Connecting the blogs through RSS

Well, I think I'm up and running here.

This isn't my first time working with blogger, but this whole idea of a little blog network connected by RSS feeds is a new one for me. Of course, like a doofus I spent about an hour figuring out how to do it rather that reading the directions linked in the blog assignment instructions. That's typical me.

Instead, I saw how Chrissie's blog was set up, and figured that she got it right (that's a compliment based on past performances). So I played around with the settings until my sidebar looked the same as hers. Then I remembered there were directions to go back and read. I didn't do things exactly the same way as illustrated, but I think it's set up right.

I never really messed around with all the "add gadget" options before. Looks like fun.

  1. Hi Adam,

Thank you for the compliment. I appreciate it. Before reading your blog, I won't lie, I went down to look that your picture of the cartoon from BitStrips.com; very funny. Okay, back to business..

I am just like you in the respect that I don't read directions, I just like to dive in and see if I can figure it out. While that may not always be the best way to do things, I feel that I understand things more because I am able to do it through trial and error. I have also utilized Blogger before in my district. We moved from using EduBlogs to Blogger about two years ago. Initially, I found Blogger to be so difficult to utilize, let's not even talk about adding gadgets...yet...After fiddling around with Blogger over the summer, I actually was part of a technology professional development team, who helped other teachers make the transition from EduBlogs to Blogger. RSS is as simple as copy, paste, and click okay. Who would have thought? While RSS is a great way to follow information on blogs, it is also a great way for students to receive the most up-to-date information from their teacher's blog or peers' blogs being used in the classroom. In other words, they will "Read Our Stinkin Sites..." :)
